The circular towers of this structure stand out in its design. These towers have three angles in their construction. The town of La Rochelle was an area of protection in years past. It was to protect from invaders by ocean. This was also a mooring post in history.

Tour Saint Nicolas was declared a historic monument in 1879. The construction on this tower began in 1345. This building originally had only four large rooms. The tower of this structure has been bombed several times in battle. This is a part of its classic history, and rugged appearance.

Today, this is one of the thrilling attractions in this area. There are three towers in all in La Rochelle. Visitors around the world journey here to see this monument. There have been international events like the Cliff Diving World Series. Here contestants dive off Tour Saint Nicolas.
