Chateau de Couffour

France hotels

When you choose to visit the array of chateaus in France, you will find that there are many to choose from. It doesn’t matter, which portion of the country that you visit. Most cities and towns have their own castle offerings. Tourists can choose the ones that interest them the most. The majority of these castles have been renovated or restored.

You will find, however, a number of castles that have not. An example of these offerings is the Chateau de Couffour. This chateau is practically in ruins, but it is a fine display of castles during its era. Tourists find this sort of site an intriguing location and to visit.

There is a lot to learn from ruined castle sites. Chateau de Couffour is found in the Commune of Chaudes Aigues. This town is situated in the Cantal region of France. The chateau itself was originally built in the 15th century.

It was designed in a very unique style. Chateau de Couffour was designed with two towers. These towers had conical roofs. The ground floor of the castle provides another look into the structure of this castle. The ground floor was vaulted, which is not a traditional style.

Although this chateau is in disrepair, it has been declared a Monument Historique. This is one of the great reasons to visit this attraction. It provides visitors with a peek into the past, and a look at the grandeur of French architecture. This is a good location to include into your trip itinerary.
